The Story Of Grafter

Grafter was formed when the founders Tom Cape and Richard Knight realised that it was really hard to find good, local available people to help on some short-term building projects.

They recognised there was a real need to engage flexible workers with business in a fast, free and easy way. Launched in June 2017, Grafter attracted 7,000 registered users to the site in just a few months. The company secured it’s first round of crowdfunding in September 2017 managing to exceed expectations of over-funding by 156%.

With the gig economy replacing traditional ways of working, Tom and Richard recognised that flexible working is becoming the future of work.

Both the founders are firm believers in good practice and fair pay – the service has been designed such that the hourly rate cannot fall below the national minimum wage.
